Stupid butter!
Who knew that putting a tub of butter back in the fridge could kill your back! I found out that it is possible for that to happen. Sunday evening I was putting a tub of butter back in the fridge and my back went out. I was doing the right things, I wasn't bending over, I was bending my knees and reached in to put it away. All of a suddenly I felt THE WORST pain I have felt in a long time. I would put it up there with the pain I felt giving birth to Kiley with absolutely NO pain meds at all. I lost control of my bladder (which really scared me, it is a sign that there is serious nerve issues going on), and was hanging onto the fridge door not being able to move at all. The kids were in the kitchen and asking me if I was ok. All I could do was cry. Isaac called for Cordell to come in the kitchen because I was hurt. Sweet little Connor was hugging my back trying to help me feel better. I'm greatfull that the fridge didn't fall over on me and the kids. Cordell gabbed a chair so I could sit down on it. It took all I had to just move a couple of inches to sit down. Cordell told the kids to get in the car so they could take me to the ER. While the kids were waiting for us in the car, Cordell gave me a blessing and helped me into the bathroom to I could change into dry clothes (there was no way I going in wet clothes!). That was a painful process. I'm so blessed with such a caring and attentive husband! He has helped me so much through this whole thing. You know how humiliating it is to be wheeled into the place you work in a wheelchair!? I was hurting so bad and trying not to cry while they were checking me in. They were all very concerned and did a great job. They got my back to my room so fast. I guess you could say I timed it right. I had one of the best nurses which was Kit. She came in right away and started my IV. I did not even feel the needle go into my arm. I also had the one of the best PAs, Mark Lawson, and one of the best doctors, Dr. Whittaker (he treated Cordell when he was having his allergic reaction to sulfa last year). They were all so caring helpful. They got my meds really quick, and Kit made sure I was comfortable. The staff were also so caring and came and talked with me. The staff at Logan Regional ER are the best. Anyway, after talking with the drs we decided just to put me on some muscle relaxers, pain meds, and Motrin and to follow up with my dr in a couple of days. I went and saw my dr yesterday and we decided I need to do my core strengthening exercises again. I haven't felt any numbness or tingling down my legs until today. We went for a walk around Walmart so I could start to get my back strong. With about every step I was feeling cracking and popping. My right leg started to feel weird and my foot was starting to tingle a little bit. It is making me nervous. I'm going to go for another walk today to see if it happens again. I hope it doesn't. I don't want anything serious to be wrong. Having an MRI doesn't scare me, it's the results of it that make me nervous. The last time I had imaging done I had a hida scan to check my gall bladder and found out that it wasn't even working at all! I just need to get my back stronger and lose about 50 lbs. After that I should not have any more problems. We shall see.

New calling
About a month or so ago we found out that the Elder's Quorum President was moving to Arizona. A couple of weeks ago the 2nd counselor in the Stake Presidency called to meet with Cordell. He has been the Executive Secretary for the past couple of years. He had the feeling that he was being called to fill the position of Elder's Quorum President. He called me after he met with President Griffin and said that he had been called to that position. He was pretty nervous about doing such a big calling. He is a natural leader. He is exactly what our ward needs. The counselors he called are very hard workers and very enthusiastic. He will be a great Elder's Quorum President. I know The Lord puts us in certain places, at certain times, and in certain situations because he has a plan for each and every one of us. It is our job to listen to the Spirit and let it guide us to do the right things and to be in the right places.

Another win!
Isaac had his 2nd to last Jr. Jazz game on Saturday. He is on a scoring steak! He scored another basket this game! Had also had a couple more steals and rebounds. It is so fun watching him improve with each game. His team is down to only 5 players showing up each game. The other team had about 9 players, so they were able to sub out a lot. I do have to say that the refs in that game were horrible!!! They weren't calling hard fouls or completely obvious fouls. One kid on the other team grabbed one of our kids' jersey to stop him from making a lay-up and the ref didn't even call it. The game was a very physically rough game. Isaac ended up with a couple of bruises. I told him that's a sign of playing hard. I came home from a lot of games with bruises everywhere when I was in Jr. High and High School. There were a lot of hard fouls committed by both teams that the refs wouldn't call. We were all worried that the kids would get hurt. Even with crappy refs and only 5 players Isaac's team they won the game! The score was 34-29. They are a hard working team. Go Lakers! One more game left to go in the season.

Family visit
Last week Cordell's parents and sister came to visit and watch Isaac's basketball game. They must have been good luck, because he scored 4 points. We had a great time with them. It's always nice when family comes to visit.

Jr. Jazz blowout
Isaac's team keeps rolling on. This past weekend we had Ted, Loye and Miranda come stay with us so they could watch Isaac's basketball game. I think having the extra family to play for made Isaac work even harder. They only had one extra person, but Isaac stayed in the whole game again. His mad defensive skills were hard at work again. He had a couple of steals and a few rebounds, defensive and offensive! He took more shots this game and made 2 baskets! That is the most he has scored, and I got them both on video!!! At the end of the season I will put together a highlight reel. Hopefully I can post video by then. He was pretty tired after the game. They did a great job. The final score was 47-23. We blew out the other team. The boys were having a lot of fun. He has 2 more games to go. I'm glad we put him in it. He has had a lot of fun.

Power of prayer
Tonight we had family home evening given by Connor. He has been begging for the last week and a half to be able to give his family home evening. He asked Isaac to say the opening prayer. Now, for the last couple of days I haven't been able to extend my neck. I woke up the other day with a stiff neck. It hurt so bad to try and look up. I had been taking tons of ibuprofen and using a heated rice bag to help it, but they didn't help much. Anyway, today I had only done the rice bag, and it was still hurting. When Isaac was saying his prayer he asked for a blessing on Kiley, so that she could get over her cough, and on me, so that my neck would not hurt any more. We had the lesson given by Connor. He taught us about the angle Moroni coming to Joseph Smith and telling him about the golden plates. He did a great job! Anyway, we were all done with the lesson and Cordell asked me how my neck was. I had been babying it for so long I was nervous to see. I started to look up and to my surprise and relief, I was able to extend my head all the way back and look at the ceiling! I told Cordell that Isaac's prayer worked. Isaac came downstairs as I was leaving to go to work. I told him that his prayer had worked and my neck didn't hurt anymore. I showed him that I could look all the way up at the ceiling. He looked surprised and very happy at the same time. I told him thank you for the prayer. I am so thankful for the power of prayer and that Isaac was able to witness, that with a sincere heart and intent, The Lord does hear and answer our prayers.

4 against 5
With the all-star break over for Jr.Jazz, the Lakers had another game on Saturday. Unfortunately only 4 players showed up. For a little while it looked like they were only going to have 3 players, but a 4th showed up. The other team had 8 players, so they always had fresh players to rotate in. Our poor team had to run their tails off all game. It was a hard fought game. Isaac again showed his great defensive skills. He had a few awesome steals and a rebound or two. He also attempted a couple baskets, but wasn't able to make the baskets. With only 4 players they played outstanding defense! They kept the other team to only 24 points. Thankfully we have some talented shooters and scored 30 points! Yes, you read that right. The final score was 30-24. They beat the other team with 4 players against 5, with 3 subs! They did a great job! They were pretty exhausted after the game, but they did great!
